Match Day in Columbus: Here's the Plan

12/04/2015 11:37 AM | 107ist Admin (Administrator)

The Portland Timbers will play in MLS Cup! Here's what you'll need to know if you’ll be there to see it.

OUR SUNDAY TIMELINE AT CREW STADIUM

All times local/Eastern

9:00 AM - Parking Lots open ($20 to park)

10:30 AM - Timbers Army Tailgate starts in the B Lot on the east side of Mapfre Stadium. All are welcome – more details below.

12:30 PM to 2:00 PM – ticket distribution at the Timbers Army Tailgate tent

1:00 PM – If you have a banner you want hung, drop it off with the tifo crew at the Timbers Army gate (south side of stadium near tailgate). The tifo crew will hang it inside for you before the game starts.

2:30 PM – Timbers Army enters Mapfre Stadium

4:00 PM+television hold time – MLS Cup begins!

Due to recent world events, please expect a heavy security presence and please have patience when entering the stadium. Please plan to enter the stadium at 2:30 PM.

YOUR MATCH TICKETS
If you have purchased tickets through the Timbers Army, we will distribute these starting at 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM at the tailgate tent (more on that below). If you cannot make it by 2:00 PM, we will drop off the tickets at a dedicated will call window by Gate 4.

If you have general admission TA Tickets, you will pick up your tickets in the alphabetical lines. If you have reserved tickets you bought through the TA (section 112), you will have a separate line at the end.

TIMBERS ARMY TAILGATE
We will be holding a tailgate before the game! Come to the B Lot starting at 10:30 AM.

There will be catered barbeque with vegan options for the first 500 fans. We are asking for a $5 donation to the 107ist to help cover costs. Oregon beer will be available as well in limited quantities.

If you'd like to make your donation now, you may do so through this PayPal link:

POSTGAME

We will be held in our section, but this situation will be fluid.

You will not be able to leave the section at all – even to go to the bathroom – from the 80th minute to the final whistle. Same for extra time – 110th minute through penalties.

If we win MLS Cup, we’ll be held in our section for 30 minutes after the match to watch the trophy presentation.

If we lose MLS Cup, we’ll be free to leave immediately. If we stick around and cheer off the Timbers as expected, the Crew will put a hold (not let you leave) on those remaining fans until after the trophy celebration has ended plus a few minutes.

The hold will be partially lifted at some point during both of these events to allow us to use the restrooms on the concourse.

PARKING
General parking will be open for all ticket holders. The cost is $20. Our tailgate will be in Lot B, which will also be a parking option, but because of the tailgate the number of spaces in this lot is limited, so please expect to park in general parking.

PROHIBITED ITEMS
The following items are prohibited at Mapfre Stadium:
Coolers
Backpacks
Duffel Bags
Luggage
Detachable lenses (camera okay, just no lenses)
Drones
Pyrotechnics
Smoke bombs
Video cameras
No food or beverage through the gates.

ALLOWED ITEMS
Purses and bags no larger than 14x6x14, a cinch/drawstring sack, camera bags within the requirements, and diaper bags are allowed.

TIFO, FLAGS AND BANNERS
The Crew strongly encouraged us to bring as many flags and banners as possible. Flags cannot be bigger than 3x5, and PVC pipe can be no bigger than half an inch in diameter, and cannot be longer than three and a half feet below the flag. If you have a banner, please drop it off with the tifo crew at 1:00 PM by the Timbers Army gate. It will be hung for you.

ALCOHOL
If you are in sections 113 or 114, you must pour your alcohol into cups. The Crew will take care of this. Two drinks per order maximum. Food and alcohol cutoff will be the 80th minute.

RESPECT
The Crew have asked us to please be respectful. They are holding us to the same standards they are holding their own supporters group to and we have agreed to follow their supporters code of conduct, which relies heavily on respect and common sense.

Please enjoy the MLS Cup!

First of all thank you for all the great work you have been doing this week, you guys are amazing!

Quick question, my husband lands in Columbus at 2pm and should be about 15 min from the stadium we purchased tickets on our separate accounts, is there anyway I could grab his ticket for him so it doesn’t end up in will call? Oh and we have different last names as well.

If I have a “banner” that I would like to turn into a two-stick… and it’s larger than 3×5… is that okay to hook up on some pvc and turn it into the tifo crew?

The PVC has to be half-inch diameter or less, but two-sticks are otherwise okay.

Question: Since we will be un the tailgate area for several hours, are there portable toilets? Also, is someone bringing hand sanitizer for those eating? Sorry for the question. I have managed several large events and this thought came up to me.

You forgot that they have added to the list of items you can’t bring to the stadium – no wood or chainsaws

Go in at 3pm – there should still be TA going through gates, but they won’t be ready for you in the stadium until then I wouldn’t think.

Are there any TA fans not in section 112? We’re Timbers fans coming from OH (yea I know!) but our seats are nowhere near 112!! Afraid we may be in a sea of yellow & black! We plan on finding TA tomorrow! Cannot wait!
