Organizational Ethos

(guiding beliefs, core values, spirit)

This is how to communicate who we are and what we believe. This is for new people, as well as those who are well-established within the community. Our ethos compels us to act in the following ways:

Constantly striving: We are not perfect; we are always trying to be better than we were the day before, working to be the best that we can be, every day.

Self-reflective: On a collective and individual level, we actively seek to take the time to think about and learn from our experiences and from each other.

Radically inclusive: We strive to maintain a safe, welcoming space for all, where everyone feels free to speak and act their truths. We don’t tolerate intolerance.

Welcoming: We are intentional about welcoming people into our community.

Empowering: When members are compelled to act on something that aligns with our ethos, they have the authority to act.

Accountable: On two levels—we believe in restorative justice, and we think that words and actions matter. We all make mistakes, we all have biases, and we all have learning to do. At the same time, we accept that actions have consequences.

Honest: We strive to be honest with ourselves and with others, and to act following our values.

Independent/grassroots: We are not driven by profit but by the passion for the players, for our community, and each other.
