Join Booked! and local author Jules Boykoff for a discussion of his books Red Card: The 2026 World Cup, Sportswashing, and the FIFA Greed Machine and Kicking, a memoir about his former life as a professional footballer and his current life as a critical academic of sport.
Together with Jules we'll discuss sportswashing, power, and corruption in the game we love, both internationally and right here in Portland. We'll also attempt to reconcile how we love this beautiful game in spite of these things.
Come to Legends on Sunday, September 20th at 2 p.m. Doors will open at 1:30 PM. This is an all-ages members-only event, and the beer garden will be open. Single-event memberships for the afternoon will be available for $5 at the door. There will be some light bites on hand, but we encourage you to bring snacks to enjoy or share!
There will be a limited supply of books for purchase for $15 each. Cash only.
