Portland United Against Hate urges coalition members to come together as a community to stand up against hate and bigotry as we commemorate the anniversary of the violent attack on the two young women and the three men who put their lives on the line aboard a Trimet MAX train on May 26, 2017.

People will gather together at the Hollywood Max Station to honor those that lost their lives and to continue the fight for those who have survived. This tragic incident is a deadly version of what is happening to marginalized communities each day - verbal attacks, threats, fear, and a community of people that will stand up to the violence for the good of us all.

Volunteers should arrive by 3pm and meet at the west entrance to the Hollywood Transit Center (near Orchard Hardware) and will be circulating solidarity stickers and handouts with information about getting engaged in the work to combat hate violence to people as they arrive.  The Trimet-sponsored event details can be found here.  People will be gathering for the event at 3:30pm at the transit center at NE 42nd and Halsey, the dedication itself begins at 4pm.  If you have specific questions, contact Stephan.Lewis@107ist.org

It is time to heal, time for justice, time for action. In the year since these attacks, PUAH has been building a city-community partnership to track, respond to, and prevent hate violence. The 107ist is a part of this coalition and engages in the work of building a safer, more inclusive Portland, and you can be a part of that.
