A Special Note About Sunday

07/07/2011 3:46 PM | 107ist Admin (Administrator)

Sunday represents a huge day for Portland and the Timbers. The upcoming match against the Seattle Sounders will be the biggest and most intense event to happen at Jeld-Wen Field to date this season. We want everyone to know that the expectation is there to show up, sing, and participate fully on Sunday as well as have a good time doing so.

In order to make sure the day goes without problems the 107ist leadership does have expectations. Please do not bring any Seattle supporters into the Timbers Army section even if they are your friend/brother/uncle/cousin/etc. The Timbers Army section is for Timbers supporters and away fans have their own section reserved for them. This is the case for every game, but it needs to be emphasized for this match in particular and understood that it will be enforced and Seattle supporters will be redirected to the away supporters section.

Please refrain from interacting with any Seattle supporters in and around Jeld-Wen Field. We realize everyone will be up for this match, but we mustn’t let emotions get the best of us. Direct your emotions in the form of support for the Timbers. Act accordingly in this regard and please make sure to spread the word amongst your friends and fellow supporters to ignore all Seattle supporters.

As many of you know the Timbers Army polices its own section and values the trust the Timbers front office has placed in us to do so. This is a privilege that is not taken lightly. Follow the code of conduct in the Guest Guide for Jeld-Wen Field and realize that not following the code puts you at risk of being ejected from the match on Sunday, receiving a multiple match ban, or a permanent ban from the stadium in addition to being banned from all organized 107ist away travel trips and all Timbers Army organized events.

Please enjoy yourself on Sunday. Support the boys on the pitch with everything you have and let’s all work together to make sure this is a memorable day for all of the right reasons.

You can bring your brother, but he has to sit with the Seattle supporters. That is, unless, he wants to change allegiance and join the Timbers Army to begin rooting for the Timbers. In that case, he must burn all of his Sounders gear, wear the green/gold/white and then he is welcome. :)

There’s really no way your brother will have an enjoyable time in the TA section if he’s kitted out in flounder gear and/or cheering for the opposing side. If you don’t do it for us or in the name of common decency, at least do him a favor and put him with his own kind.

If you want to sit with him so damn bad then you can go sit with the Seattle fans. Bringing a fan from another team into the TA like that is a huge slap in the face to the TA.

Nope, we don’t want the Timbers fan in the Seattle Section, that’s just as big an insult as a Seattle person being in the TA section.
The original commenter needs to simply accept that if you’re in the supporters section of either club, you need to be a supporter of THAT club, and if you wanna watch the game together, you need to sit with the other prawn-sandwich-eating folks in non-supporters sections.
That’s pretty much universal when it comes to Supporter Groups.

One of my best friends is coming down from Seattle with his Sounders brood, and even he knows not to even try to sit with me in the TA section. Even if he could, he’s wise enough to know better. We’re best pals, but we also wish the other to rot in hell for the duration of the match. Afterward, it’s back to normal.
It won’t kill anyone to be apart for a couple hours.

Away supporters with Timbers Army seats will be relocated to the away supporters section. If there is no room there they will likely be removed from the stadium. This is the same way it was handled in Seattle.

That’s because there was room for those that needed moving, it only becomes an issue if the ‘amnesty area’ gets full. It’s actually part of the Cascadia travel agreement which all 3 teams have to abide by.

@ TMJ, I don’t know how much clearer it can be put for you (perhaps your just a troll, either way). NO FLOUNDERS IN THE TA!!!! You are creating a recipe for disaster if you do this. If you still decide to bring a sounder into the TA he/she better not wear anything sounders or even show any sort of excitement towards the sounders. Best let them enjoy the match with similarly distasteful people in the away section.

Bringing a Sounder fan into the TA is a huge slap in the face of your brothers and sisters. Love your friends and family from different sections or go join the visiting section. We cannot control what their fans do, but we sure as hell can and will control what our sections does. LETS GO BOYS! RCTID.

Since we are being so thorough about keeping Sounders fans out of TA, please also do your best to redirect drunk/belligerent fat women slapping my dad in the face with a beer soaked flag away from the section. As a true Portlander and Timbers fan, I am loving my half season tickets in section 106, but can’t say the same regarding belligerent idiots that are more interested in getting sloshed and stumbling around than supporting their team. Atleast try to keep your beer in the cup… I understand TA isn’t for kindergartners, but let’s keep things classy in TA. RCTID!

It’s between the Portland, Seattle and Vancouver Front Offices, you’ll see it referred to as the Cascadia Travel Agreement (or something similar). Here’s a link to a story from when it was agreed upon: http://www.prostamerika.com/2010/12/15/away-fans-limit-set-at-for-cascadia-derbies-33796/
