We can’t think of a better way to spend a dreary midweek evening in November than to bring our soccer loving community together to share our love for soccer and books!

With the US Men’s National Team about to embark on the upcoming world tournament, Adam Elder’s book reminds us of the early days of soccer in the US and the unique stories and challenges players then faced to become relevant in the US sports scene. Interestingly, this event takes place two days before the anniversary of one of the USMNT’s biggest games, Nov. 19, 1989 ... the Trinidad game.

Adam Elder is a native Oregonian and freelance writer for The New York Times, The Guardian, The Wall  Street Journal, Esquire, WIRED, VICE, and elsewhere. We’re delighted that our own Shawn Levy, will be on hand to moderate the discussion.

Booked! Will host a meet and greet with the author afterward. Location details are forthcoming.

Registration is not required, but those who do register, and then show up to Powell's and the meet and greet may receive a special treat.
