Somehow, in all the excitement of the Thorns winning the championship and the ensuing celebrations throughout all of Portland, one of our Rose City Riveters banners has come up missing.

We think it may be hiding from us, and perhaps is still a bit too giddy from partying to successfully make its way back home.

Now it is nearly time for the travel banner to suit up and get on the road for 2018 away matches- so banner, come back!

Have you seen it? Please let us know at info@rosecityriveters.org

We love getting together at Providence Park- and at our away match venues, too!

And sometimes, that doesn’t feel like enough, so we love creating opportunities to get the Rose City Riveters family together outside of Thorns matches. If we can turn it into a helpful act of community service or a fundraiser, even better.

In our excitement to enjoy each other’s company, and enthusiasm to run with a great idea, we recently held a bingo night at Cider Riot. We also planned to have another tomorrow at Lucky Lab…without realizing we were missing some steps.

As it turns out, we really didn’t understand the complexities (see: rules) in hosting bingo. We learned of the criteria late last night, and found that we would likely not be able to be in compliance for tomorrow night’s event. Regretfully, this means we must cancel the bingo event at Lucky Lab.

We know a lot of you were looking forward to this- we were, too! But it’s incredibly important to us that we always work in a manner that is above board, and at a bare minimum, never threatens our nonprofit status.

Our most sincere apologies for canceling this event on such short notice.

We are incredibly grateful for your understanding. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us via e-mail at info@rosecityriveters.org.

See you in the North End soon!

Sure, Rose City Riveters are known for great match day tifo displays, epic away trips North, and of course, all the red smoke!

What you might not know is that when we fundraise, it doesn’t just go to Riveters expenses- it also goes to support our community.

In addition to products cultivated from our match day drives, financial assistance is also provided to organizations. Here is a thumbnail sketch of where fundraising dollars were directed in 2017:

    • Pioneer Courthouse Square – repair $100 (Click here to find our brick!)
    • Lori Lindsey trip to Mt. Killimanjaro – $107 (Click here to read about her adventure, coordinated by Altitude Football Project. Athletes set a Guinness World Record for the world’s highest ever soccer match, to help draw attention to equality issues.)
    • Street Roots for Spread the Love Scarves (joint with Timbers Army) – $1,000
    • The Living Room Pride Scarf (joint with Timbers Army) – $3,330
    • TransActive Pride Shirts & Buttons – $2,539
    • Rock n Roll Camp for Girls BYCAP and End of Year Show – $3,594

Thank you for purchasing our limited run scarves, shirts, and other merch that helps fund great organizations and causes like these!

    We made it a double.

We painted tifo, we sang songs, we supported the Thorns.

We went to Orlando, and we brought back the NWSL Championship trophy.

And now we rest. Kind of. For a few minutes. There is always work to be done.

The application period is open for candidates for the 107ist board. The 107ist, for those of you who may just be joining us, is the operational umbrella covering both the Rose City Riveters and the Timbers Army. It’s what allows us to do all the things we do at the scale at which we want to do them.

Applications are open until Friday, November 10, at midnight and can be found HERE. You must have a current, paid 107ist membership to run.

Being a member of the board isn’t easy and it isn’t always fun, but the board is essential and this year, four positions in the 11-member group are open. Newly elected board members will serve a three-year term, from January 2018 through December 2020.

The candidate forum, where candidates will answer questions from their future constituents, will be November 19 at Artists Repertory Theatre beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Whether voter or candidate, consider carefully. You have the ability to shape the organization going forward.

Each year, a special gift is presented to individual teammates of the Portland Thorns by Rose City Riveters. This year’s gift was particularly exceptional.

Player Gift: Coins designed by Riveters Matt and Hannah, and created by ADX Portland.

All work was done by the Makers Collective at ADX Portland. The coins’ imagery and wording were designed by Riveters Matt and Hannah, which was laser etched into rosewood rounds from a 25 y/o rose bush native to North Portland. The boxes are Douglas Fir, aged 10 years and seasoned for five.

The Riveter crest on top is silk screen printed with a gold and gunpowder grey ink finish, and the message inside the lid is one of unity with the players and the club. The top and bottom are held together by magnets, and the rosewood coin rests in a black, felt-lined setting.

Hope you enjoyed this little peek at just one of many small facets of Rose City Riveters support. Thank you to those, named and unnamed, who contributed their time and talent to this worthy project.

    Oi Oi Oi.

Hayley Raso has won the 2017 Rose City Riveters Player of the Year award. Nearly 550 votes were cast this year, and Raso registered 38% of the vote.

During the 2017 regular season, Raso has scored 6 goals and has had 3 assists. While her second year on our squad, this was a breakout season for Raso. Her heart and grit won our hearts over. When her physical play was rewarded with a 1 game suspension, the whole stadium showed their support of her by sporting red bows in their hair, beards, or caps.

The Riveters will always remember the role Raso played at Memorial on August 26th, where she got her first NWSL brace and helped the Thorns earn their first win in that godforsaken stadium.

This year’s award was assembled by our friends at ADX Portland, with a handmade rose generously donated by a local craftsman.

Past Rose City Riveters Player of the Year Winners:
    2016 – Emily Menges
    2015 – Michelle Betos
    2014 – Vero Boquette
    2013 – Karina LeBlanc
