Biographical information (107IST-related and professional):
I was born and raised in the CT/NY area. I moved to DC for college and attempted to become a United fan, especially during the Freddy Adu years. Due to overzealous security at the stadium and lack of TV broadcast, I never got very excited about the team. In 2008 I was transferred to Portland for work. In 2009 I attended my first Timbers match with very low expectations and was completely blown away. I have been stuck in and a season ticket holder ever since.
State your objectives as a 107IST board member:
- Lights and fan in the flag cages. The flag cages are often damp and get very little sunlight. This leads to wet spots on the floor you can't see, flags that never dry out and lots of mold. A dedicated fan and some lights, perhaps on a timer, would help a lot, plus make it easier to navigate up there post-match.
- I'd like to create an events committee whose specific focus would to be plan and execute our various events like the block party, preseason party, etc. I'd also like to bring back Art Takeover or something similar. We've gotten too large as a group to grab a few volunteers, find a partner bar with a back room and throw down. Consistency in knowing what works and what doesn't would save a lot of headaches.
- Security has made already long lines longer. I want to work with the FO to set up some sort of pre-check system. If the TSA can make it work, I'm sure we can too.
How do you feel 107IST members would benefit from your involvement with the board:
I'm dedicated and hate seeing projects left unfinished. I'm willing to jump in and do whatever tasks are needed, even if it's not my primary focus. I also consider myself easily approachable, which makes it easier for people to discuss their ideas or concerns. I think this also allows me to easily work with other board members without conflicts.

Biographical information (107IST-related and professional):
I have been a Timbers Army member since 2012 and a Timbers season ticket holder since 2013. I call section 106 my home.
I started attending Timbers matches with my son as a way to stay close to him. It took just a couple games and I was hooked, I had found "my sports obsession." I had never understood fandom before I saw my first Timbers match. I became addicted to the game, chants, camaraderie and the love of the Army. I now bleed Green and Gold and can honestly say that am RCTID! I participate in line culture every week and attend most all of the TA events. I love away day games, I have been to Seattle many times and Vancouver twice. This year we added Kansas City to my Away Day agenda.
My day job is as an account manager for a manufacturer’s rep in the high tech components industry. I began my career in 1986. In 1996 I began working for my current company. I started as an inside sales person and within 2 years I had moved into account management. My position requires that I stay current on technology and computer applications.
I graduated from Sherwood High School in 1977, received my Bachelors of Science in Business Management from Linfield College in 2001 and my MBA from Marylhurst College in 2007.
I have lived in the Portland metropolitan area since 1962. I love Portland and could not imagine living anywhere else.
State your objectives as a 107IST board member:
I believe in the mission of the 107IST, supporting soccer in Portland at all levels. I want to contribute my time and energy to help attain this mission.
I am a member of most of the TA Facebook groups and there are many people who sit in the Army section who are not 107IST. I have worked at the membership table and love meeting prospective members and telling them the benefits of being a member and touting the good work that the 107IST board does. I would like to work to try to increase our membership. I think the more Army members who get involved the more powerful our collective voice becomes.
Through my professional life I have gained experience in problem solving and critical thinking. I would like to use that experience to make the 107IST the best group they can become.
How do you feel 107IST members would benefit from your involvement with the board:
I have worked on committees since the early 90s. I think the experience I bring to the group, as well as a fresh mind and ideas, will benefit the board in most every aspect.
I am very computer literate and am able to grasp new programs and apps with little or no instruction. As the 107IST moves toward a more “high tech” foundation I would be an excellent resource to help facilitate that move.
However, working with the members is still a person to person job and I believe my skills in customer service and as an account manager give me the people skills (patience, respect and consistency) to help keep the 107IST in touch with its members.
I achieved both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees while working full-time and raising my son. My skills in organization and efficiency qualify me as an excellent resource as a board member.

Biographical information (107IST-related and professional):
Portland born and mostly raised, I have been a supporter of the Timbers since 2001. With a background in architecture, I switched to community development over 20 years ago to have a greater, more positive impact in our changing community. As a stay-at-home dad, I have the luxury of being able to be involved in many aspects of making our place on Earth better and teaching my son that he can make a difference. While there are many ways that I’m involved in the community, working through the 107IST to advance our mission supersedes my other volunteer activities.
State your objectives as a 107IST board member:
There are some structural inefficiencies within the organization that I can help address as a member of the board to keep others from getting burnt out.
I’d like to continue to get more members involved in the organization at a higher level to increase our capacity and make up for recent losses of active members due to life stuff.
We need to take our tifo game to the next level. We continue to have great designs but, we’ve gotten formulaic and we can push the envelope more.
We should have a tiered system for partnerships based on the amount of buy-in to our mission.
Most importantly, I believe it is time to double down on our stance against intolerance. With recent events causing so many members of our community to live in fear, it is imperative to be as big a catalyst as possible in support of our values.
How do you feel 107IST members would benefit from your involvement with the board:
While I’ve become the poster child for being involved in the 107IST at a high level without being on the board, I feel there are many benefits to having me there as, once again, I had a bunch of people ask me to run.
One of my primary skills is in conflict resolution. In that, conflict can be a really good thing if approached through scholarly debate where all parties listen to and work with each other. Then, win-win solutions can be achieved. This ability has resulted in me taking on many leadership roles in my work in the community as well as earning the respect of those I serve with.
Additionally, I have a quality understanding of our history, present, and where we need going as an organization.

After attending my first match in 2011, I became enamored with the Timbers and, after a bit, the Timbers Army itself. I became involved in match day operations in 2012 and haven't stopped since. I'm a member of the flag crew, as well as being heavily involved with tifo as a painter and project manager.
State your objectives as a 107IST board member:
To promote the 107IST, Timbers Army, and Rose City Riveters positively in the community, to work with other members to cut down on people trying to profit off of the Army for personal gain, and to bring in more volunteers for various 107IST-related efforts.How do you feel 107IST members would benefit from your involvement with the board:
I'm excellent at finishing tasks, supporting the people I work with, and incredibly tenacious. We all have different skills to bring to the table, and I feel that I can offer a different perspective and fresh blood to the board.Conflicts of Interest: None

My first Timbers match I attended was in 2010 when we played against St. Louis FC. (The city I moved back to Portland from.) After spending the next few matches in the TA and more so after becoming a MLS team, my heart was sold. I joined the Army three years ago and have increasingly become more involved as the years have gone by. The many hours I devoted to working within the TA have been incredibly rewarding and I look forward to many more hours in the future. My many personal profession hats I wear have provided me with a broad range of attributes that have become valuable in the work I provide within our organization. You can find me in the middle of the Fighting 106, cheering for our ladies in red, and assisting the capos at T2 matches.
State your objectives as a 107IST board member:
As a member of the 107IST board, I will engage and activate our MLS-era members. I became a supporter in the late USL/early MLS era and have a strong connection with these members. I feel there are many members who want to be more involved with TA and Riveter activities but aren't sure of the best avenues to express themselves within the 107IST organization. If elected, I will strive to break down the perception of the Trust being an impenetrable gang of a few and help build an understanding that the Trust is only protective of all the incredible work that people have put their heart and soul into but it is open to new ideas and helping hands. It all begins with a handshake, a willingness to speak up, and the offering of volunteer hours.
How do you feel 107IST members would benefit from your involvement with the board:
I feel as though I have a fresh outlook towards what can help the Timbers Army and Riveters grow without sacrificing the original views and goals of the 107IST. I have worked with many groups of different notions and sizes, and have been able to successfully navigate and organize said groups. I am practiced in the tasks of event planning, and have successfully overseen the development of wonderful ideas that have led to even greater end results. I hope to use my abilities of delegation to alleviate stress and wear on current members, but also to embrace the willingness of less active members to further the cause. As can be seen in Merch meetings and my time spent painting tifo, I have no problems voicing my opinions, but also accepting other opinions that I deem more successful.

Biographical information (107IST-related and professional):
I left Philadelphia in early 2006 after receiving a bachelor's degree in graphic design, an associate's in communication design, and briefly working for an apparel company to move to Portland.
Shortly after arriving, my lifelong love for this beautiful game brought me to PGE park for my first Timbers match. I was enamored with the support from the Timbers Army, and knew right away I would be attending more matches. Unfortunately, due to my obligation to starting two small businesses, I was unable to become involved with the 107IST organization, with the exception of a few tifo painting events and tee shirt competitions, until recently.
In 2015 I was invited to participate in the NPO merch crew, and it's been my honor to contribute to our club and community, as well as make many great friendships along the way. I look forward to spending many years in this organization, bringing as much as I can to the 107IST Independent Trust, No Pity Originals, and the Timbers Army.
State your objectives as a 107IST board member:
I believe that some of the biggest objectives for 2017 should include furthering our brand, showcasing our community outreach, and being more active in creating a larger volunteer base within the Timbers Army.
I would focus on furthering the No Pity Originals and 107IST brand, and continuing to uphold its integrity. Utilizing a creative mural arts and field branding would help us create long running brand initiative.
Becoming more involved in local community events to showcase our progress as a non-profit, furthering 107IST memberships, and offering NPO apparel. This includes youth soccer events, farmers markets, 107IST sponsored viewing events, and the multitude of beer and spirit events Portland offers.
To reach out to our ever-growing community and get more people actively involved within the organization. Our community of volunteers is what makes the 107IST functional, attractive, and the best supporters group in the MLS.
How do you feel 107IST members would benefit from your involvement with the board:
Overall, I think my commitment to this organization has and will speak louder than any words I can put here now. Whether I get elected to the board or not, I promise to continue to serve this community of outstanding individuals.

Timbers ultra fan since moving to the Pacific Northwest in 2014, when I attended my first Timbers match, fell in love with the atmosphere of game day. Sports fan since birth (LOL) have always loved how sports can bring a community together, and how sports teams can help their communities in charity and outreach. Professional work history is that of a logistics specialist.
State your objectives as a 107IST board member:
To help and improve the overall experience of attending a Timbers match, especially with the wristband line. Other than that I just want to be more involved with the Timbers/Thorns other than just attending games and painting tifos.
How do you feel 107IST members would benefit from your involvement with the board:
Bring many years of volunteer experience with many organizations where I helped plan many outreach and community events. I bring 100 percent energy for my love of soccer and the Timbers/Thorns as a vital member of the Portland community.

IT systems architect for local government. MBA in Finance from Portland State. Grew up as an Army brat, living all over the country and in Panama. Moved to Portland in 2009. Married to the amazing Kelli Terrill. Joined the TA in 2009 as a way to meet new people in a new city, fell in love with the energy at the matches and the people. Have slowly gotten more involved with things. My most visible activity is taking photos at many of the Timbers/Thorns matches featuring tifo on behalf of the 107IST.
State your objectives as a 107IST board member:
In the wake of this week's national election results, local activities and support are going to be critical to ensuring our communities remain safe and healthy spaces for everyone. As many have previously noted, sports, and especially soccer, is a great equalizer, crossing boundaries and bringing people together. I would continue the good work of the 107IST to this point and continue to foster outreach to our community to ensure the 107IST is a trusted partner in the community.
How do you feel 107IST members would benefit from your involvement with the board:
I'm detail oriented and driven, with a lot of valuable experience in various organizations as both a professional and volunteer. I'm an effective communicator, and can work well both behind the scenes and in the front (I prefer behind the scenes). I'm pretty even-keeled most of the time, which can be useful when things get a little contentious. I'm happy working in any area to keep things moving forward, and love learning new things (if you know me, you know I'm def a nerd).
